People would probably say I’m like a puppy with a lot of energy and a real hunger for living life to the full. I don’t do things by halves, and have always dreamt of owning my own salon – to be honest I have to pinch myself every day that my dream came true!
What gets you out of bed in the morning? – The people! It’s a pleasure to come to work and spend time with such an eclectic group; both the team and our amazing clients!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – Cutting is my speciality, especially cool textured cuts! Saying that, nothing beats the satisfaction of pairing a great cut with beautiful seasonal colour.
Life before Energy Hair – Before opening the salon in 1998 I had the pleasure of working for some of the best hairdressers in the country and was part of the L’Oréal art team. I gained a lot of experience quickly which inspired me to go and set up on my own!

When I was four I wanted to be a hairdresser when I grew up, now I am grown up and I’m a hairdresser, how lucky am I!
What gets you out of bed in the morning? – Knowing I am going to be paid for doing what I love the most, with a team that feels like family!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – I really enjoy putting my own personal style into hairdressing. I am passionate about cutting because it gives me the biggest opportunity to be individual, and give my clients a style that is truly unique.
Life before Energy Hair – I have grown up at Energy Hair, been here for over 10 years and loved every minute.
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – I am definitely the wild one and never stop talking, Nathan and the family have embraced me from day one and brought out the best in me!

People would probably say I am a bit loud and always on the look out for my next adventure, I love motorbikes and love having fun with hair!
What gets you out of bed in the morning? – The creative freedom and satisfaction of making my client’s day with a totally new hair style, I love that feeling – its like a new adventure every time!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – Short hair styles because I can be more creative, especially when I am lucky enough to play with colour as well as the cut.
Life before Energy Hair – From sweet sixteen I have been in the industry. After training at another salon for 3 years I was eager for a fresh change so came to Energy Hair – over 10 years later I am still learning something new everyday!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – I have been here for over 10 years and it never gets boring, the salon has such a positive energy I look forward to coming to work every day.

What gets you out of bed in the morning? – Making people feel awesome! I am super passionate about wellbeing & love how much giving my client’s amazing hair play’s a part in that!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – I specialise in cuts & colouring! I’m pretty famous for cutting a fabulous bob and absolutely love making people blonde! Saying that, for me the most important part of the journey is the consultation. I want to make sure I find out everything I can about my guest & their hair goals, so the end result is totally perfect for them and tailored to their lifestyle.
Life before Energy Hair – I actually spent 10 years working at Energy before I felt it was time to challenge myself with a new journey in the industry. This new journey took me to the city centre gaining knowledge of new techniques and upping my skill set! 6 years later I’m excited to be coming back to my team, with new knowledge and treating my guests to a new salon & experience!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – It has been amazing to see how much the salon has grown as a business in recent years! The team are fantastic, together with the fabulous products and Darts Farm location it was a natural fit to come back home!
What hair product do you swear by? – Kerastase ultra-violet masque to keep my blonde hair clean and neutralised! I wouldn’t trust anything else!

Whether I am training for a marathon or training junior hair stylists, I find the results so much more worthwhile when you have enjoyed the journey to get there!
What gets you out of bed in the morning? – As well as being a stylist I am the Education Director at the salon. I am really passionate about teaching our trade and love the process of coaching the junior team until they are qualified, and can join me on the salon floor!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – Transforming the colour of someone’s hair, or optimising their existing hair colour with highlights has to be the most satisfying part of my job!
Life before Energy Hair – I worked in a family run salon for 13 years where I started my journey as an educator. The move to Energy as a more established and larger salon has given me the opportunity to grow and progress both as an educator and as a stylist, which is the dream combination for me.
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – There is just good feeling about Energy Hair that I was attracted to from the start, there is a positive can do attitude and a supportive family environment that I find is rare in businesses these days.

What gets you out of bed in the morning – Knowing that I work in a supportive environment with wonderful clients, and the opportunity to grow and develop!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – Hair up for events and weddings, it is so satisfying seeing the end result and helping people look their best for their big day!
Life before Energy Hair – I left school and was eager to get into hairdressing straight away, I stayed at another salon for 8 years before moving to Energy Hair for a fresh challenge and better job security.
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – Definitely the people, as a team we all support each other, and as salon we have built up such special relationships with our loyal clients, it is a lovely feeling.
Ellie Phillips
My brain constantly needs challenging, I love being creative and learning new things!
What gets you out of bed in the morning? – My passion for doing hair, I love that I get to play with hair every day is it so much fun! There is always a new style to learn, I like that every day is different, as I get bored easily!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – I really enjoy experimenting with colour, balayage is definitely my favourite I love the movement it gives to hair.
Life before Energy Hair – I was lucky enough to be on the Energy Hair apprentice scheme so have been part of the family here since I left school. Around working I have also focused on my other passion which is travelling, Africa and Asia have definitely been my top places so far!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – It is a salon at the top of its game offering the very best in hair dressing, I pride myself in my work and feel honoured to have learnt from the best!

“I once cut the hair of James Bond’s stunt double, and have been lucky enough to style celeb hair for red carpet events in London! I love being adventurous with hair & am excited to start the next part of my hairdressing career in Devon!”
What gets you out of bed in the morning? – Before becoming a professional hairdresser I was always the one my family & friends would come to for hair styling or advice. An interest in hair has been in my blood since I was little, so since choosing a career in hair I feel lucky every day that I get paid to do what I love!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – I am known for my fabulous beach-wave styling, and for my beautiful balayage! My passion is in styling whether that is a bouncy blow dry, or a wedding up-do. When working in London I was lucky enough to style red carpet events and fashion week models, so if you have a special event coming up and need some extra sparkle to your up-do I am your girl! Don’t be mistaken though I am also a trained colour technician and love experimenting with both natural and more bold vibrant tones!
Life before Energy Hair – I started my career as a retail manager on Oxford Street, London, and quickly learnt I love the buzz of being customer facing but hair is definitely where my passion lies! (and trust me if you have done a Black Friday sale on Oxford Street you can do anything!). Since then I have worked for Toni & Guy and Rush Hair in London, and am now ready to take that experience to the people of Devon!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – The salon environment is so welcoming and makes everyone feel at home; clients and staff! I also love how we are always pushing the boundaries of creativity with hairdressing, which I love as it means as a team we are all continuously improving and offering our clients new styles and hair care advice.
What hair products do you swear by? – I will never fall out of love with Olaplex, it really is magic potion for all hair types! The super formula dramatically reduces breakage, repairs damage and helps colour last longer! My other go to product is L’Oreal Tecni Art Density Material Wax Paste which is perfect for styling a final look, and particularly good for defining curls!

What gets you out of bed in the morning? – Knowing that I’m coming to work to do a job I love! I love every aspect of my job so feel like I never have a bad day!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – As much as I enjoy all aspects of hairdressing, I love big transformations the most; it’s so good seeing the change in someone from when they walk in to when they leave knowing I have helped make them feel amazing! Transformations could include a colour change or a restyle cut, but also hair up / bridal hair, event hair, anything fun & different. Being part of someone’s big day or a special event is always so much fun!
Life before Energy Hair – I have worked in a salonsince I was 13, so have been in the industry for a while, working my way up. I have worked in 4 different salons now which has given me the range and knowledge I needed to progress in all aspects of hair styling & colouring.
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – The support from the team! There are quite a few of us here and it’s nice to be encouraged by everyone; we all get on work together to achieve the best for our clients! I’ve also had the opportunity off my skill & enter competitions with Energy, in particular the 2022 L’Oreal Colour Trophy which myself and Ellie Phillips were finalists in!

What gets you out of bed in the morning? – That I am lucky enough to work in a beautiful salon that has a 5 star reputation for creating beautiful hair. I am a perfectionist so enjoying pushing myself to always achieve that 5 star service every time!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – I specialise in highlights and creating balayage looks. I have a strong eye for detail and love making sure each individual highlight is in the right place to compliment my client’s look. The balayage is always a joy as the goal is to create a natural blended look, it has to be very bespoke to the client therefore no one is ever the same!
Life before Energy Hair – I have worked in various local salons hairdressing since I was 13. I have been fully qualified since I was 18, working with hair is quite literally the only thing I know how to do!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – The people here are truly special and there is a continuous drive for progression and improvement. This means everyone is always growing together, and our clients get the very best experience, it is a wonderful thing to be a part of!

What gets you out of bed in the morning? – I’ve grown up being inspired by my Mum’s career in hairdressing, and feel so honoured to follow in her footsteps by making people feel great with amazing hair!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – My passion definitely lies in creating show-stopping blonde looks, highlights and balayage are my speciality!
Life before Energy Hair – With my Mum being a hairstylist, I knew from a young age what I wanted to do! As soon as I left school I completed my apprenticeship and since then have worked in a range of salons perfecting my craft!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – The dedication to professionalism across every touch point, and the ongoing focus on education – which means we can always deliver the very best for our clients!

What gets you out of bed in the morning? – Knowing I will get a chance to help someone feel and look amazing, have a good day, and most importantly feel confident! I believe great hair can definitely achieve that for a person!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – My passion is all things balayage!! There is nothing better then a beautiful natural colour which requires minimum styling and upkeep. Alongside styling -if you love your hair curled I’m your girl!!
Life before Energy Hair – I have always wanted to work with hair, and started at Energy as soon as I could on Saturday’s age 14! I’ve been here for over 4 years and after qualifying with a distinction I cannot wait to now be a full time stylist on the salon floor!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? – What I love about Energy is the family feel along side continuously learning new things from education training and from each other. We are all able to show our own specialities in our own ways!

What gets you out of bed in the morning? – For me it’s knowing I’m going to make someone feel pampered and look gorgeous. Also the opportunity to learn new skills everyday because every client is different!
What do you love the most in hairdressing? – I love working in a creative industry that allows me to have fun achieving bespoke looks for each of my clients, painting hair, cutting it and styling the final look (including hair up), I love it all! If I had to pick a favourite part it would be colouring & shorter hair cuts.
Life before Energy Hair – Since a little girl I’ve always dreamed of being a hairdresser. I started at Energy Hair as a Saturday girl where my love for hair grew, as soon as I left school I was excited to start my apprenticeship at the salon, which started my dream career in hair! I will have completed my NVQ Level 2 in January 2023 and now can’t wait to officially start working as a stylist!
What is the best thing about Energy Hair? –The positive energy I get from clients and the team who have helped and guided me to where I am today!
